  Emergency Instruction Drawings

Along with the Fire Safety Plan, training, and fire drills, the signage in a building can be an asset to occupants in planning for emergencies. In many cases, it is a fire code requirement to post written instructions throughout a building, advising occupants what to do in the event of a fire.

Instead of just meeting code requirements, many building owners have opted to exceed them, by posting not only written instructions, but floor plans also. Each drawing reflects the specific floor area in which it is posted, the locations of the nearest emergency exits, and is oriented to the reader's location.

Having these drawings posted in locations such as elevator lobbies provides building occupants with a visual reminder of how to react in a fire emergency.
